Look at what Chris’ Class have been doing this week!

We have had a great deal of fun over the last few weeks. We have enjoyed the weather (when it hasn’t rained!) and have been exploring outdoor learning. Last week we were able to visit Guisborough Walkway and loved seeing the wooden carvings, the pond area and enjoyed a play in the play area too! We enjoyed National Numeracy Day this week and are looking forward to the Queens Jubilee Celebrations next week!

Numeracy Day

Thursday was National Numeracy Day. Children at Discovery did lots of activities including watching the Times Tables Rockstars attempting to break a times tables world record. In the afternoon, classes came together to take part in a circuit of fun maths activities out in the sunshine. Amongst other challenges they searched for hidden numbers in the Forest School area, played number games with bean bags, dug out numbers frozen in ice and found out how many children could fit inside a hula hoop. Even the staff got involved by taking part in the big Number Natter during a staff meeting.

Walk to school Week

This week is Walk to School week. We have been talking about the importance of walking for our physical and mental health and have done some walking in school everyday. Whilst walking we had challenges such as how many times can you walk around the track? What can you see whilst walking? What can you hear whilst walking? The children have been great!

Explorer of the Week!

Louise’s Class- Harrison, for doing good sharing with adults

Cheryl’s Class- Natan, using words more frequently

Leanne’s Class- Toby, fantastic joining in and communication

Zahida’s Class- Jahmiah, for trying hard in everything he does

Grace’s Class- Amiena, for wonderful speaking and asking for help

Hanna’s Class- Mayley, excellent engagement in art. Well Done!

Michelle’s Class- Simrah, Brilliant writing about Saltburn

Dates for Diaries

Monday 23rd May- Swimming for Y5 PM

Tuesday 24th May- Grace’s Class Horse Riding AM

Look at what Zahida’s Class have been doing this week!

In RE we have been learning that religions have different stories that teach us different things. We looked at the story of giving a smile and how it teaches us that sharing our smiles can make our friends happy. The children had gave smile cards which they gave to their friends to make them happy. They then all showed me their beautiful smiles. In PE we have been working with a partner to practice our throwing and catching skills using a big ball. The children have been enjoying sharing the text Peace at Last, and doing literacy activities linked to the story.

Look at what Hanna’s Class have been doing this week!

Hanna’s class enjoyed a trip to Saltburn this week as part of our History and Geography topics. We observed the Victorian buildings, cliff lifts and pier. The children enjoyed taking a walk along the promenade and pier before exploring the beach. We enjoyed digging in the sand and making sandcastles. This children also enjoyed an ice-cream. We were amazing when crossing roads and followed adult instructions well to keep ourselves safe while out in the community. This linked to previous learning about road safety in PSHERE. We hope you enjoy looking at our photos from the trip.
