Discovery Blog 21.11.2025

In Jenni’s class we have had a busy few weeks working on lots of different skills.

In math’s we have been exploring collecting data and putting the data into bar graphs – this includes counting items, creating tally graphs and sorting items into groups in order to be able to complete a bar graph showing the information.

In our Community Engagement focus we took a trip to Larchfield Community Café. We took our own money and chose items from the café to purchase. We had to make sure the money we had covered the cost of the items we wanted to buy, we also had to learn how to interact and order items, making sure we used our pleases and thank yous. 

In our Social and Cultural lessons we have been looking at the Norman Conquest, the Battles that led to the 1066 invasion and how William the Conqueror was able to win the battle and stay King of England despite the people who lived in England not liking his new rules. We have been making Castles in the same styles William built his – Motte and Bailey and Stone Keep styles.

In PE we have been looking at Leadership skills, we have been actively planning sessions for younger pupils, exploring muscle movements across all areas of the body, routines and circuits that would be good for different age groups. We were then given an opportunity to engage in teaching a class where we led a warm up, then chose two different activities for us to do with the pupils and then we all participated in dance movements showing the other pupils how to follow the instructions.

Lydia – Isla Working hard to expand her vocabulary and use new words!

Jenni – Matthew Continuing to work on and improve his independence skills at home and at school.
