This half term in Sophie’s Class, we’ve been diving into the fascinating world of the Anglo-Saxons! We started by reading the story of Beowulf and had great fun learning to retell it using signs from our text map. In history, we’ve been discovering what life was like for Anglo-Saxon soldiers — exploring what they wore and the armour they used to keep themselves safe.
We also got creative with clay, designing and making our own carvings inspired by the patterns and symbols of the time. This week, we’ve been learning about where the Anglo-Saxons lived, building wooden shelters, and even creating our own farmland!
Next week, we’ll be turning our attention to Anglo-Saxon jewellery and trying our hand at making some beautiful pieces of our own. We can’t wait to see what everyone creates!

Important Safeguarding Notice: Children’s “Spy” Books
We want to make you aware of a recent issue affecting some popular children’s books by Andrew Cope, including the Spy Dogs, Spy Cats, and Spy Pups series.
Some editions of these books include a printed web address at the back. This link used to go to the author’s website, but the domain is no longer under his control. It has since been taken over by another party and now leads to inappropriate adult content.
