Children from across the Academy gathered together on the last day of term to watch the release of some of our butterflies.

Several weeks ago, each class received a small dish with some tiny caterpillars as part of our learning in Science Week. We watched the caterpillars grow and eventually build cocoons around themselves. It was exciting to see the butterflies finally emerge within their nets.

There was lots more excitement as the butterflies were released. Some of them settled briefly on outdoor furniture, trees and even staff fingers before finally fluttering away.
