Story massage therapy

Our children love to hear stories and when combined with massage provides fantastic opportunities for sensory interaction and brings the stories and song to life. We use the massage movements on the shoulders, back, arms and head but depending on each child’s sensory needs and preferences they can be also be used on their hands, feet, legs and face.

In the first video I am going to explain the 10 massage movements that we will use in all of the stories and songs.

Before we start a story massage session it is respectful to ask your child whether they would like a story massage. They may like to listen first or see you performing the massage on a teddy or cushion so they know what will happen or they may like to have the massage on their hand first so they can see what is happening.

There will be new videos added termly so look out for new stories and songs to try at home.

When you are ready you can make up your own massage movement to match different stories and songs.
